Tying your belt

There are two main ways to tie your belt. Whatever the technique, both ends must be the same length, and the label must be worn on the right. The knot must be tight to prevent the belt from coming loose during training.

If the knot comes loose, it is appropriate to redo it but taking care to turn your back to those who teach us.

The belt must always be properly fastened before saluting.

Traditional Technique

Here Nathan demonstrates this technique. He takes great care to respect the rules of a properly fastened belt.

Cross-back technique

Here our dear Olivia demonstrates this technique. She takes great care to ensure that both ends are the same length. Many karatekas adopt this technique for its simplicity and speed of execution. Some like it less, because the crossing in the back creates a bump.
